Renowned therapist Dr. Richard Schwartz writes about “no bad parts”. He is referring to the notion that no parts of any of us are essentially “bad”; instead they all serve some function, usually of a protective nature. Schwartz’s idea is deeply aligned with my beliefs as a person and a therapist. I collaborate with my clients to better understand the parts of them that are anxious, depressed, confused, overwhelmed, angry, or grieving, before treating these symptoms. My approach to therapy is deeply founded in a Person-Centered perspective, which maintains that the therapeutic relationship is a critical factor in creating sustainable change in clients' lives. It emphasizes the importance of warmth and authenticity in healing. I am an attachment-focused therapist; helping my clients to explore early and ongoing attachments, and discover how they impact current functioning. As a woman of color and an immigrant, I am consistently attuned to my clients' unique cultural experiences and identities.
My methodologies are integrative, instead of being tied to a singular approach. I will tailor my treatment models and interventions to suit you and your needs. I am trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, skilled in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Former clients have shared their experience with me to be compassionate, caring, invested, and effective. My clients report leaving the therapy process enjoying a stronger connection with themselves, healthier relationships with people in their lives, and overall improved quality of life.
