Since I can recall, I’ve been drawn to the helping professions-connecting with people has always brought me joy. In 2014, I immigrated from India to pursue a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Syracuse University, followed by a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science (with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy) from Virginia Tech. I currently work as an author, trainer, and supervisor focused on systemic therapy and disability-affirmative care.
My scholarship focuses on disability-affirmative research, with a focus on improving both attitudinal and infrastructural access to therapy for disabled individuals and their families. My clinical expertise lies in working with racial minorities, Indian, and South Asian communities. Having a foot in academia allows me to stay up to date on contemporary developments in the therapy world, so I can apply these learnings in the work I do with my clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking for friends and family, gaming, reading, and catching up with loved ones back home. I also love writing and have been making space again for this long-lost hobby.
