Since I can recall, I’ve been drawn to the helping professions-connecting with people has always brought me joy. In 2014, I immigrated from India to pursue a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Syracuse University, followed by a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science (with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy) from Virginia Tech. I currently work as an author, trainer, and supervisor focused on systemic therapy and disability-affirmative care.
My scholarship focuses on disability-affirmative research, with a focus on improving both attitudinal and infrastructural access to therapy for disabled individuals and their families. I am the author & editor of The Handbook of Disability-Affirmative Systemic Therapy (Routledge, 2025), a comprehensive text for clinicians and training programs on disability-affirmative systemic practice. My clinical expertise lies in working with racial minorities, Indian, and South Asian communities. Having a foot in academia allows me to stay up to date on contemporary developments in the therapy world, so I can apply these learnings in the work I do with my clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking for friends and family, gaming, reading, and catching up with loved ones back home. I also love writing and have been making space again for this long-lost hobby.
